Pine Manor College is a small, private, 4-year, liberal arts college for women located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, just minutes from downtown Boston. At PMC, you will enjoy a beautiful 60 acre suburban campus nestled in an affluent residential neighborhood that provides a safe, secure environment for students, and yet have easy access to all that Boston has to offer. The city's subway system is just a 10-minute walk away or a short ride on the college shuttle.
You will receive a personalized education at PMC that focuses on inclusive leadership and social responsibility, both inside and outside of the classroom. We have 500 students, about 80% who live on campus. Class sizes are small and our teaching techniques respect the way women learn best -- through interaction, collaboration, and participation. You can also cross-register for classes at Boston College, Babson College or at several colleges and universities in the Marine Studies Consortium, including M.I.T. The learning experience at Pine Manor College is transformative. US News ranks Pine Manor College as the #1 liberal arts college in America for campus diversity. Your life will be enriched by learning with other young women of different cultures, different ethnicities, different lifestyle choices, different races, and different socio-economic backgrounds. Over half of PMC's students are women of color, and 1 student in 10 is from an international country outside of the U.S. Our community is uniquely preparing young women for the challenges of an increasingly diverse society. Pine Manor College has nine majors and over 50 areas of concentration, including pre-professional programs. The majors attracting the most students are Psychology, Teacher Education, Business Administration, Biology, and English. Other popular majors include Visual Arts, Social and Political Systems, Communications, and History. The College also offers a 2+2 articulated transfer program with Boston College in Nursing. The curriculum is based on 12 learning outcomes. Each student has opportunity to reflect on her learning experience and demonstrate to herself and others what she has learned by presenting a portfolio at the end of sophomore year and again at the end of her senior year. A student's portfolio takes the form she chooses and is created with guidance from faculty, staff and peers. An internship is required for all students during the senior year. We have over 1000 sites for students to choose from and the list grows each year. Nearly 75 colleges and universities are located in the metropolitan area of Boston, so there is always something for a college student to do. On-campus clubs and organizations also provide ample opportunity for community service, social involvement, and fun. Pine Manor offers seven varsity sports in NCAA Division III, including soccer, basketball, lacrosse, softball, volleyball, cross country and tennis. Finally, Pine Manor College is one of the most affordable private colleges in New England and the United States, and offers competitive financial aid including need-based and merit-based grants and scholarships. Tuition, room and board this year is just around $23,500. This makes PMC a great buy for all students and families, whether they have financial need or not. |
