Language of instruction | The common language here is the Russian language. All foreign students pass through the preparatory\foundation course, where during one year they receive accelerated courses of Russian language and the necessary scientific language for their future studies. Foreign Graduates are certified, after taking appropriate exams, as interpreters of Russian. For students in English programmes there are summer language school and additional courses during academic year. |
Student profile | At this time more than 28000 students of undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate courses representing about 1000 nations and nationalities from 152 countries of the world study at the University. These are young people from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe, almost from all republics of the former Soviet Union as well as representatives of autonomies and regions of multinational Russia. International students are organized in students associations by country and regions. |

Fee rate for major course training at the University depends on the chosen specialty (major). Tuition fees for the Preparatory and Foundation course per academic year is $ 4300 USD. Tuition fees for Bachelor/Specialist Programs ranges from $ 2800 to $ 8650 per academic year. Tuition fees for Master Programs ranges $ 2800 to $ 8650 per academic year. Tuition fees for Postgraduate Programs ranges from $ 2900 to $ 5350 per academic (depending of specialty). (see also below) |

The University was founded in 1960 by a special resolution of the USSR government and named as Patrice Lumumba University of Peoples’ Friendship symbolizing the struggle of oppressed people all over the world for freedom and independence. Over 80,000 foreign nationals from 170 countries have studied and graduated from this University which combines the classical structures of higher education and always promotes objectives of educating and bringing up youth in the spirit of tolerance, mutual respect and patriotism. This University is a state university under the Government of the Russian Federation, occupying one of the top places among classical universities in Russia and a leading position in training of international students. Students campus PFUR student campus is the winner of the “Best campus’ Moscow Mayor’s Prize. The university has also won the title “Best student hostel” at the all-Russia contest. The campus occupies 50 hectares of land near a large park and hosts 27 buildings, sport and medical faculties, hostels and shops.12 comfortable hostels have cozy rooms and well-occupied kitchens. There is a TV and Internet in every room. At the disposal of students are Laundromats, dry-cleaners, ateliers and beauty salons. All buildings are a walking distance form each other. The students’ campus is situated in the South - West of Moscow city, and it is one of the best places for living and studies. The Hostels are situated in 5-storey and 16-storey buildings offering double and triple bedded self-contained rooms, costing from 980$ to 3500$ per year including water and electricity expenses, furniture, cooking and washing facilities. The rooms have connections to the internet, satellite TV and telephone. The students are organized in students’ councils, in charge of discipline, social education and support of their rights. Medical care If student happen to fall ill, the university policlinic will have everything for high level medical assistance. The medical and rehabilitation centres are equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities. In the frame of the”Student health” program all students and employees undergo annual medical check-up. PFUR is the winner of the all-Russia contest “University with healthy life style”. University's Medical Centre provides regular health control and care on the basis of medical insurance policy costs of 270$ per year. Students' dispensary and policlinic operate within the campus. Security The site of the University Campus is fenced. Electronic gate pass system is strictly maintained. Visitors allowed being identified. Local Police station and the Department of Internal Security control over public order and discipline. Contemporary Fire Prevention system is being applied in all premises of the University. Sport, leisure To make students’ life comfortable at the University, we offer free of charge halls for gymnastics, handball, basketball and football grounds. Tennis courts and pools are also open in the campus. An International post-office, a telephone centre, a shopping centre, some restaurants offering dishes of national cuisine of different countries, an international student cultural centre, and a computer centre are situated within the campus. The sport complex occupies a huge territory of 6,500 sg.m. You can do sport all the year round. Despite weather conditions – there are 4 football fields (2 – indoors), 15 tennis courts and 36 sport sections. One of the traditions of the international university – regular “small world championship” in individual and term sports. Libraries Our Central Library has a literature with about 2,500.000 volumes in many foreign languages as well as specialised libraries at the faculties, and is of free access to students. At the beginning of the term students receive books at faculty’s library and can also freely visit the comfortable reading halls and internet classes whenever they need it. Visa, ticket, residence permit Russian students’ entry visa will be issued on official invitation to every duly admitted student. International air tickets to fly to Moscow are available from many air companies. Transport expenses to Moscow and back home after graduation to be covered by students or their sponsors. Residence permit in Russia will be provided on students’ reporting and extended every year. The PFUR International office will assist our newly admitted in many countries. Finance The fees are to be paid at the beginning of each academic year (September) to the account of the University. An International bank service is available at the campus, where the Students can open private accounts and keep their money. Students are advised to have some $ 300-350 per month in order to meet the costs of the meals, transport, clothes, private needs etc

Sign a Preliminary Contract on Study at the PFUR. The Preliminary Contract is an offer to the general public (public offer) (p. 2, art. 437 of Civil Code of the Russian Federation). The amount of the payment according to the Preliminary Contract which should be offset against the cost of the first (1) semester is 1 500 U.S. Payment must be transferred to the University account. In this case, the transfer of payment may be carried out both by the applicant and the authorized person or entity. Upon the arrival the University will require you to perform all the necessary terms set by the Admission Regulations of the PFUR for the ongoing academic year (Admission Regulations are available on the official web-site of the University). Then, there will be signed an Individual Study Contract between the student and the University. Payment transferred according to the Preliminary Contract on Study in the PFUR, namely the 1500 U.S. dollars, will be taken into the account when the Individual Study Contract will be signed and payments according to the Individual Study Contract will be made. (!) After payment it is necessary to confirm the payment by sending a scanned copy of bank document on payment done to the International office by e-mail.
4. Send an e-mail to the International office with the following information that is required for visa support: (!) The official invitation will be sent to the candidate after receiving the confirmation of payment. (SEE ABOVE). Visa support to the accepted candidates is made through the corresponding Embassy (Consulate) of Russian Federation. Duration of the invitation issue – 30 working days. IMPORTANT: Due to requirements established by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, all foreign students willing to continue their studies in Russian Universities (including Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia) for the purpose of further education must pass through the recognition (Nostrification) procedures and to confirm the equivalence of the foreign education documents. Definition: Recognition of foreign higher education document is a procedure which grants the document holder the right to continue education. Nostrification is required:

Moscow Summer School Moscow Summer School (MSH) is the new project of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. This academic event will be organized every July and August since. Each year we will give students from different countries an unforgettable experience that combines high quality courses with a wide range of cultural and social activities. MSH includes multidisciplinary courses, which are taught in English and Russian, aimed at stimulating thought and intellectual development in an open and diverse environment. PFUR offers
