Teaching methods
The study programmes are based on a combination of lectures and active participative learning. Case studies, stimulation games, group projects are included in all the courses. Long-term programme participants have an obligatory internship course in a Russian or a foreign company (abroad). Project work is an integral part of the MBA programme. Most projects deal with the participants' companies ideas.
Special characteristics
The quality of the programmes offered is ensured by the combination of lecturers, professional academics and practising top managers. Visiting professors' lectures, the participative character of learning, follow-up internships and study tours abroad to foreign companies and management development centres are basic features of the teaching process. About the University
MIRBIS is an international business school to meet the challenges of management in the 21st century. Founded in 1988, one of the first business schools in the former Soviet Union provides business education, research, consultancy and partnership links with organisations in private and state sectors in areas including accounting, finance, banking, marketing, economics development, human resource management, and foreign languages.
MIRBIS is one of the leading schools of postgraduate and executive education. It is in the top 10 schools list of the Russian Business Schools and Institutes of Economics.
The School was founded as an inter-government agreement between Italy and Russia. The founder members are the Plekhanov Economic Academy of Russia and the Italian Economic and Research Society NOMISMA.
The School has developed close relationships with professional bodies and enjoys the active support of a large number of employers. It is a member of the Russian Association of Business Education, the Russian Association of Recruiters, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Russia, Association of Commercial Banks and many other professional organisations.
The school has a State License of the Russian Federation Committee on Higher Education and of the Department of Professional Education of the Moscow Government. Its programmes have also been validated by the Russian Federation Ministry of Higher and Professional Education and by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In 1998 MIRBIS has been audited by the European Foundation for Management Development experts within the EQUIS-EQUAL project of the European Training Foundation.

Moscow International Higher Business School MIRBIS has a recognized range of high quality and innovative undergraduate, postgraduate and executive development programmes, which can be taken on a full-time, part-time and distance-learning basis.
MIRBIS has a large team of academic and support staff. All academic staff has professional experience and is active in research and consultancy. The expertise of external guest-lecturers also underpins a highly career directed portfolio of programmes.

In 1994 the first Japanese Management Training Centre was started in MIRBIS under the Russian-Japanese Memorandum on Rendering assistance to the reforms in Russia. The Centre provides short-term seminars and courses in a wide range of problems of management, marketing, finance, etc. Professors and practising business people from Japan run these courses.
Since 1993 MIRBIS has been a recognized centre for providing courses and running examinations for the Institute of Commercial Management (Great Britain). During these years over a thousand students have obtained professional qualification certificates and diplomas of ICM.
MIRBIS supports a wide range of research activities, reflecting its size and diversity of academic interests. Several multidisciplinary research projects are being run in MIRBIS at present. They support the work of the academic groups and meet the needs of business community both in Russia and abroad. Basic, strategic and applied researches are undertaken, focused on most urgent demands of MIRBIS' clients. The Consultancy Centre has extensive national and international links. The Business School invites expressional interest in research both from individuals and organizations. Among the latest projects are: researching the Russian Federation markets of construction, stoves and fire-place equipment, constructing materials, dwelling, drinking water, and food for Finland; marketing research for Italian companies producing pumping equipment for household needs; market research reports for the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce.
For 6 years MIRBIS has been the only provider in Russia for the international project of the Institute for Management Development (Switzerland, Losanne) and the World Forum in making the World Competitiveness Yearbook.
Students have the opportunity to study a wide range of modern languages related to business, to follow courses preparing for international FL examinations - Cambridge First Certificate, Business English Certificate, TOEFL, IELTS, ICM Business English Diploma.
Besides, there are multi-level courses of RUSSIAN for foreign businessmen, where practising business people and students can improve their communication skills in Russian.
MIRBIS was one of the first educational institutions in Russia to enable its students to study abroad by arranging in-company training and study courses for Russian executives wishing to get enriched with Western work and management experience. Over 2000 people have done short-term executive development courses in best business training centres and companies in Great Britain, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, China, South African Republic, the USA, Hungary, Finland, Spain, Italy, Greece, Cyprus.
Since the early days of its foundation MIRBIS study programmes were designed on the basis of well-known syllabuses and curricula of international business schools. Visiting experts, faculty members, practising business people have actively participated both in study programmes development and presentation. MIRBIS has continued to cultivate links with educational establishments across the world.

Opportunities to spend time abroad are not limited only to students of executive courses. Undergraduates, post-graduate and MBA students can follow dual degree programmes with best British Universities, obtain their degrees in case of successful studies and spend a part of the programme time in the partner Universities.

MIRBIS has a lecture room for 52 participants, a seminar room for 26, five smaller seminar rooms for 10-15 people, two lingaphone laboratories for 45 students, two computer classes for 26. Students can borrow books and the latest publications from the MIRBIS library. They also have access to the Academy library.
