ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY
The University of Stirling was granted its Royal Charter in September 1967.
It has established a sound and enviable reputation for innovation and
excellence in business education in the UK. It took the lead in the UK in
establishing a two-semester system, with the academic year beginning in
mid-September. An extensive network of academic links exists between
teaching and research staff in Stirling and academics, practising managers
and professionals overseas, and from a wide range of industrial and
commercial businesses.
The Faculty of Management at the University of Stirling is the largest of
the University's four faculties, with over 1700 undergraduate students, 400
students following taught postgraduate programmes and around 70 research
postgraduates. In successive Teaching Quality Assessments (TQA), the
Departments in the Faculty have been highly praised for their teaching.
Economics was rated 'Excellent', and all other Departments have achieved a
'Highly Satisfactory' assessment. In research, the Faculty has demonstrated
excellence in a number of areas, such as accounting, finance and economics.
The Faculty is proud of its record of expansion and achievement in teaching
and research, and its very high levels of sustained quality.
The University campus is widely acknowledged as one of the most beautiful in
the UK, with 60 acres of woodland, 300 acres of mature, landscaped parkland,
a loch and a splendid 18th century castle. It lies two miles from the
historic town of Stirling and there are excellent road and rail links to the
major cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, both of which are served by
international airports.
